Our Off Site shredding services provides you with a less expensive alternative in which a secure truck comes to your site and collects your confidential documents in secure manner for safe shredding at our central location in Wilmington, NC. June 2010 - JHS Document Solutions releases it's new Document Preservation System. Now you can preserve your documents, hardbound and softbound books, film, photos, slides, X-rays, etc. in permanent or semi-permanent sealed plastic. We offer vacuum sealing for your documents. The documents, books etc. are placed in plastic and the air is vacuumed out. Then optionally, nitrogen can be introduced to remove damaging oxygen. The nitrogen or air is then vacuumed out and the plastic will be welded on all four sides, preserving your documents in a compact, water and air proof manner. If you ever need the documents for inspection, the plastic can be opened and resealed. VERY economical compared to current preservation techniques. This book and document preservation system is excellent for Government departments such as Register of Deeds to preserve Deed Books, Index Books, Marriage and Death certificates, etc. after the documents have been scanned allowing public viewing of the scanned images. JHS Document Solutions exhibits at the 2010 Legislative and Educational Conference in Raleigh, NC. Several Register of Deeds offices showed an interest in our Deed and Index book scanning services. Of particular interest was our ability to scan hard bound books without taking the books apart. JHS has a scanner that scans hard bound books without stressing the bindings. We do not need to flaten out the books on a flat bed scanner; our scanner cradles the books in a natural "V" shape. Our hard bound book scanner creates crisp flat images without any page curvature. JHS Document Solution employees attend AIIM Enterprise Content Management training and earn the Practitioner certification. This certification documents the successful completion of intensive testing in the fields of Document Management, Document Imaging. More specifically the testing confirms our expertise in the strategies, methods and tools used to capture, manage, store, preserve, and deliver content and documents related to key organizational processes. John Stemke earned his ECMp certification at this event.

JHS attends ARMA International conference in Las Vegas. Seminars and lectures participated in covered topics including document scanning, automated indexing procedures, electronic forms, document workflow and OCR processing. The North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources invited JHS to present at the local Government scanning workshop in Wilmington, NC. Discussions included project management, in-house vs. outsourcing, OCR technology, document retention periods, document management systems, Kodak Capture software and scanners and more. We will be presenting the workshop in Wilmington, NC on December 5th from 10:00 - 3:00 at HR department in the Government Center.
JHS participated at the Kodak Capture software training program in Atlanta. Training consisted of the latest features and tools of the Kodak Capture software used by JHS Services at the Wilmington, NC headquarters and our branch locations nationwide. Kodak Capture simplifies the document scanning and indexing procedures.

· Full Text searching of notes/annotations
· Enhancements to security settings, new Groups options, and security set for a group roles down to users
· Full Text searching across non-image files (ie: Word, Excel, PDF, etc…)
· Much enhanced PDF handling to extract Text/OCR from EITHER Raster (images) or Vector (text) based PDF’s
· Added the ability to Cut page(s) from one document to another
· Enhancements to the scanning interface – (right mouse click on the thumbnails)
o Scan Into option lets a user scan pages into the middle of set of already scanned pages
o Rescan option allows the user to select one or more thumbnails and rescan those pages
o Drag and drop ordering of scanned pages (in case they were scanned out of order the user can now fix it)
o Scanning in grey scale and color now produces MUCH smaller files

JHS Document Solutions completes a medical record scanning project for Back In Motion Chiropractic. Several years of medical records were scanned and indexed using Kodak scanners and indexed in Kodak’s Capture software. Back In Motion was able to clean out a room full of files to make space for additional staff. The medical records were scanned quickly and are now available as .pdf files and can be easily searched and retrieved. |
